Warriors lose, tie in Huntsville

Wayne State lost and tied at Alabama-Huntsville last weekend in a College Hockey America series.

In Friday night's 3-2 loss, WSU sophomore Mark Nebus scored both goals and junior goalie Matt Kelly finished the contest with 42 saves.

The next night, freshman Stavros Paskaris and sophomore Jason Bloomingburg each had a goal and an assist and freshman Adam Krug also scored. Sophomore goalie Will Hooper made 50 saves in the 3-3 tie.

The 50 saves for Hooper is a career-high eclipsing the 47 saves he made on Jan. 23, 2004, against Ferris State while a member of the University of Findlay. His 23 stops in the second period were a WSU school-record for most saves in a period.

The draw kept the Warriors' streak alive of not being swept in a series this year. The Warriors have seven splits, a win and a tie at Robert Morris, two home wins over Atlantic Hockey leader Canisius, plus a loss and tie this past weekend at UAH.

Wayne State continues its four-game road trip with two CHA games at Niagara University this Friday and Saturday in Lewiston, N.Y. (just outside Buffalo).
