Spartans get two top-end recruits

By Matt Mackinder/Michigan State Beat Writer

Michigan State has reportedly received two verbal commitments from a couple top-notch players from the state.

Forwards Reid Boucher (pictured) and Brent Darnell have given the nod to the Spartans for years down the road, joining a current trend among college hockey recruiting.

Boucher, a 15-year-old from Grand Ledge, plays for the Lansing Capitals midget major team. His head coach, Dean Dixon, has called him "an exceptional talent."

Darnell, 16, was the fourth-overall pick in last week's USHL Futures Draft by the Sioux Falls Stampede and is playing high school hockey this season for Detroit (Novi) Catholic Central. He's a Canton native.
